Like his brothers and sisters, he was admitted to the Protestant European School (now Stewart High School) in Cuttack in January 1902. He continued his education at the school, which was run by the Baptist Mission until 1909 and then changed to Renshaw.

After finishing second in the matriculation examination of the Collegiate School, 1913, he was admitted to the Presidency College. Where he did a brief study.
